THE ALTERNATIVE TO COLLEGE
WHERE YOUR WAY IS OUR WAY

A post 16 programme of study for young people funded by Adult Education aged 16-24 and who have an Education, Health and Care Plan.

Students spend 3 days a week with us, 2 days in the classroom and 1 day as work experience.

We operate out of two sites, Penhaligon House in Truro and The Penwith Centre in Penzance.

We have been running this programme for the past 4 years and all students have progressed onto either more independence in their lives or trainees elsewhere.  This programme has expanded and is able to offer more variety in the way of work experience including a 12 week enterprise programme and access to a range of community projects.

In addition, we have a programme of Supported Internships which is a progression from the programme of study or can be a stand alone for 1 year (Work Your Way)

We also provide learning support assistants to ensure that your child has the right level of support they need.

A FULLY FUNDED programme for young people with an EHCP aged 16-24.

BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN EDUCATION AND EMPLOYMENT

Work Your Way is a 1-year programme where we work with young adults to prepare them for working life. The programme consists of 3 days per week.

The first 8 weeks are based in the workroom. The remaining 36 weeks are spent with 1 day in the workroom and 2 days in a workplace that has been found based on your skills and ambitions as much as possible.

It is important that you have an idea of what type of work you want to do prior to starting this programme in order to get the most out of it.

We hope that by the end of the supported internship programme that you either gain paid employment, become a formal volunteer or are able to engage in another form of meaningful activity.

Our programme is based in Truro & Penzance, however, we endeavour to find the work placements close to home where possible.

A FULLY FUNDED programme for young people with an EHCP aged 16-24.
